China to Control Exports of Aerospace Parts, Technology, and Bulletproof Vest Materials Starting July

On the 30th, China's Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of Customs, and the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission announced an export control notice, stating that these export controls will be implemented from July 1. Last year, China introduced an export licensing system for semiconductor materials such as gallium and germanium, as well as graphite for batteries.

The export control list includes ▲ aircraft and spacecraft structural components ▲ aircraft and spacecraft engines ▲ parts specially designed for aircraft and spacecraft structural components ▲ titanium, aluminum, and alloy processing equipment for manufacturing parts specially designed for aircraft and spacecraft engines.

Technology related to aircraft and spacecraft engine and component development or production, including software, design drawings, process specifications, and simulation data, is also subject to export control.

Additionally, items related to ship and automobile parts, medical devices, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers used in bulletproof vests, production technology, gas turbine engines, and equipment, software, and technology related to gas turbine manufacturing are included in the export control targets.

Chinese authorities stated that these items have dual-use characteristics applicable to both military and civilian purposes, and export companies must submit applications that will be approved after assessing national security and other factors.

The Ministry of Commerce posted a statement on its website under the spokesperson's name, saying, "These export controls are internationally accepted measures," and "They are not targeted at any specific country or region, and exports that comply with regulations will be permitted."

It added, "We oppose any country's activities that infringe upon China's national sovereignty, security, and development interests through the use of China's item controls."
