Baekseok University Donates Funds Raised from 'Campaign to End Child Marriage of African Girls'

Student-Led Fundraising Integrated into Curriculum Since 2015
15 Million Won Donated Over 10 Years

Baekseok University Donates Funds Raised from 'Campaign to End Child Marriage of African Girls' Students majoring in Social Business in the Department of Innovative Convergence at Baekseok University donated 2.6 million won raised through the "Campaign to End Child Marriage of African Girls" to Good Neighbors.

Students majoring in Social Business at the School of Innovation Convergence, Baekseok University, announced on the 30th that they donated 2.6 million KRW raised through the ‘Campaign to End Child Marriage of African Girls’ to Good Neighbors.


From the 16th to the 30th, the students conducted the campaign under the theme ‘Strange Wedding’ to end child marriage of African girls.


The campaign was planned to raise awareness about the human rights issues of African girls forced into marriage at a young age due to economic difficulties and to raise funds to solve the problem.


Professor Jo Seong-woo of the School of Innovation Convergence said, “We included fundraising activities in the curriculum so that students can explore social issues, seek solutions, and grow,” adding, “We plan to actively support students’ social participation activities in the future.”


Meanwhile, Baekseok University has included student-led fundraising activities as part of regular classes since 2015.


Campaigns led by students so far have included support for school supplies for low-income children in the local community, living expenses for Korean War veterans, finding missing children, and heating cost support for vulnerable groups, donating a total of 15 million KRW over 10 years.
