Geochang County, Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 30th that it participated in the "Gyeongsangnam-do Return-to-Farming and Rural Migration Briefing Session for the Seoul Metropolitan Area" held at the aT Center in Yangjae, Seoul, to promote various policies for attracting new residents and returnees to farming in Geochang.

This briefing session targeted people from Gyeongsangnam-do living in the metropolitan area and those in the region interested in returning to farming or relocating to rural areas, with the aim of increasing the inflow of new residents to Gyeongsangnam-do, which has relatively limited accessibility from the metropolitan area.

The county drew significant interest from prospective returnees and rural migrants by actively promoting its core policies, such as housing support and youth farming programs, through the "Outstanding County Policy Presentation for Return-to-Farming and Rural Migration" by Kwak Chilsik, Head of the Happy Rural Division, and the "Success Know-how Sharing Talk Show for Returnees" by Lee Gunhee, CEO of Doelnong, a tenant of the Youth Management Practice Rental Farm.

Additionally, the county promoted its agricultural internship education program for returnees, which is operated through a public-private-academic cooperation system leveraging Geochang's strengths as an educational city, as well as the Return-to-Farming and Rural Migration Academy and Smart Farming and Rural Migration Department education programs run by the HiVE Project Group at Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College.

One participant commented, "It was a great opportunity to learn about Geochang County's unique policies for returnees and rural migrants, such as support for housing, jobs, education, and trial living programs," and added, "I would like to participate in the upcoming trial living program in the second half of the year to learn more about Geochang County."

In his policy presentation, Kwak Chilsik said, "It was meaningful to meet prospective returnees and rural migrants in person at the briefing session and to promote the strengths of Geochang County. We will make every effort to attract new residents to overcome the crisis of regional extinction and revitalize the local community."
