Man in his 50s Booked by Police on Charges of Assault
A man in his 30s who drunkenly stormed the stage during singer Psy's performance at the Chosun University festival and caused a disturbance among the surrounding audience has been booked.
According to Yonhap News, the Dongbu Police Station in Gwangju reported on the 30th that a man in his mid-30s, identified as Mr. A, was booked without detention. Mr. A is suspected of assaulting a man in his 50s after storming the event venue where the Chosun University festival was being held around 11 p.m. the previous day.
At the time of the incident, he was intoxicated and reportedly caused a disturbance among the audience while shirtless. He also got into an argument with citizens who protested his behavior. During the scuffle, it was mistakenly believed that Mr. A had a confrontation with Psy’s manager, but police investigations confirmed that Psy’s side was not involved with Mr. A.
The police plan to investigate the specific circumstances surrounding the incident with Mr. A.
Meanwhile, the Chosun University Student Council held the university festival over three days from the 27th to the 29th. The festival attracted attention with surprise appearances by popular artists such as girl group NewJeans and Psy, reportedly drawing a crowd of approximately 45,000 people.
