Two Neulbom Classrooms Established at 13 Special Schools
Separate Classes for Elementary and Middle/High School... Two Dedicated Staff Each
The "Busan-style Neulbom School," which has received positive feedback from parents since its full implementation in March, will be expanded to include special schools.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 30th that starting in June, it will operate the "Busan-style Neulbom School" at 13 special schools with elementary-level courses, aiming to create a safe care environment for students with disabilities.
At special schools, the Neulbom School will operate two classrooms per school, separating elementary students from middle and high school students, with a maximum of six students per class. After the learning-based Neulbom program, the school will remain open until 7 p.m.
The Office of Education will provide each school with 19.5 million KRW per classroom for setup costs. Schools are required to install two bright, stable classrooms that are easily accessible for students by June, taking into account their budget and school conditions.
Prioritizing the safety of participating students, two dedicated staff members will be assigned to each class, and customized programs tailored to each student's individual level and needs will be provided.
The Office of Education will strengthen training for dedicated staff, on-site school support, and communication with parents and teachers to ensure safe operation of the Neulbom School and support students' growth.
Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "Through the operation of Neulbom School at special schools, we have laid the foundation for students with disabilities to achieve holistic growth in a safe environment. The Office of Education will continue to communicate with the field and do its best to operate the Neulbom School, taking into account the needs and conditions of each school."
