Over 3,000 Customers Flock on Opening Day
Largest Attendance Among Domestic Fashion Pop-up Stores
Logo T-shirts Sold Out Early Over the Weekend
Domestic designer brand Matin Kim announced on the 30th that its fourth popup store in Japan, opened in Shibuya, Tokyo, achieved sales of 240 million KRW within just three days of opening. Matin Kim is an investment brand of the brand incubator Hago House.
Hago House has supported Matin Kim in establishing brand strategies and expanding offline presence by focusing on the brand's differentiated competitiveness. Through this, Matin Kim has been conducting popup stores across various locations in Japan this year, starting with Tokyo last year. In particular, the Shibuya Parco Department Store, which hosted the first popup store last year, sent another love call, leading to this year's popup store as well.
This Shibuya popup store opened at Parco Department Store on the 24th and will operate for a week until the 30th. On the opening day, over 3,000 customers visited, reportedly the largest number gathered among domestic fashion popup stores held in Japan.
At the site, products embodying Matin Kim's unique heritage captivated Japanese customers. According to Matin Kim, not only the representative and steady-selling items such as the 'Matin Kim Logo T-shirt' and 'Matin Kim Logo Coated Jumper' but also bags and hats received positive responses. Riding on this popularity, the entire stock prepared in Korea, including the 'Accordion Wallet' and 'Matin Kim Logo T-shirt,' was sold out early during the first weekend of the opening.
Hago House is preparing additional popup stores in Japan within this year to continue the Matin Kim craze. In the second half of the year, they plan to open offline stores in Greater China regions such as Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and strengthen local business and branding.
Lee Dong-gyu, Vice President of Matin Kim, said, "We are pleased that the fourth popup store in Japan is successfully progressing with the interest of many local customers," adding, "With this support, we will accelerate efforts to establish ourselves as a global brand that elevates the status of K-fashion on the world stage."
Meanwhile, this Shibuya Parco Department Store popup is part of a project that partners with Hyundai Department Store and local distributors to introduce domestic brands. Matin Kim was selected as a representative Korean fashion brand to participate in the event.
