Dobong-gu to Establish Moa Centers in 3 Neighborhoods Including Banghak 2-dong... Operation Starts This July
Five Residents Including Village Managers to Provide Community-Based Public Services
Local Residents Hired to Expand Public Jobs and Enhance Operational Effectiveness
Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that starting from July, Moa Centers (Village Management Offices) will be operated in Banghak 2-dong, Chang 2-dong, and Dobong 2-dong, areas densely populated with single-family and multi-family houses.
Moa Centers are places that provide residents with life-oriented public services similar to apartment management offices.
Earlier, the district applied to Seoul City for the Moa Center establishment project to improve the living satisfaction and quality of life of residents in the area, and three centers were selected in October last year.
Subsequently, renovation work was carried out to convert existing community facilities, which were being used for other purposes, into spaces suitable for operating Moa Centers, and this was completed in April this year.
The Moa Centers will be located in three places: the first floor of the Dokkaebi Market public parking lot (Banghak 2-dong Moa Center), the fourth floor of the Sinchang Market Customer Support Center (Chang 2-dong Moa Center), and the space under the railway between Dobong Station and Banghak Station (Dobong 2-dong Moa Center). Each center will have one office worker and four village managers stationed.
A district official stated, “We plan to complete the hiring of office workers and village managers by June. To expand public jobs and enhance operational effectiveness, we will hire residents who are well acquainted with the village conditions.”
Starting in July, the Moa Centers will provide services necessary for improving living environments, from convenience services such as disinfection and quarantine to simple home repairs for vulnerable housing groups. They will also conduct activities for local safety management, including crime prevention and regional patrols in preparation for heavy rain and snow removal.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “With the operation of Moa Centers, we expect to quickly resolve residents’ inconveniences and enable housing and environmental maintenance tailored to on-site conditions.” He added, “We will continue to expand resident-experienced public services through close policy coordination between the city and district.”
