Recyclable Waste Compressed and Sold After Primary Sorting and Optical Automatic Sorting Facility
Cheonan City in Chungnam has completed the construction of the 'Living Resource Recovery Center' for sorting recyclable waste and has begun full-scale operation.
The Living Resource Recovery Center, which will be fully operational from next month, was established in Eungwon-ri, Mokcheon-eup, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan City, with an investment of 17.4 billion KRW. It covers a building area of 3,029㎡ and consists of two above-ground floors.
The daily processing capacity is 60 tons, and recyclable waste generated in daily life is first sorted, then goes through an optical automatic sorting facility before being compressed and sold.
The city expects that with the completion of the Living Resource Recovery Center, the amount of incinerated and landfilled household waste will decrease, contributing to cost reduction in waste treatment, carbon neutrality, and the practice of a circular economy.
Mayor Park Sang-don stated, "Through the Living Resource Recovery Center, we will take the lead in stable waste treatment as well as carbon neutrality and the advancement of the circular economy through resource recycling."
