Final Selection of 11 Works in 5 Categories: Emblem, Mascot, Poster, Slogan, and Motto for the Competition
Jinju City, Gyeongnam announced on the 29th the selection of symbols for the '64th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival 2025'.
The city received 292 entries from the public for the '64th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival Symbol Contest' held from April 8 to May 7. After a fair and rigorous review by experts from related fields such as university professors, the Fine Arts Association, and the Writers' Association, 11 final works were selected in five categories.
Jinju City is holding a contest for the symbol of the 64th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival in 2025.
The official mark for the festival was chosen for its design that incorporates the Korean letter 'ㅈ' representing Jinju and the English 'J', expressing the concept of 'True Jinju' creating a third miracle towards the world. The mascot was selected as a character personifying the Gyeongsangnam-do symbol mark, along with Jinju's tourism character 'Hamo', depicted running with the torch on wings symbolizing the Aerospace National Industrial Complex.
The poster highlights Jinju's status as a historic cultural city and a rising hub of the aerospace industry. The slogan selected is 'The Power of United Gyeongnam in Prosperous Jinju', and the catchphrase is 'Provincial Sports Festival Uniting All in the Land of Miracles, Jinju'.
The prize money is 2 million won for the winning entries of the festival mark, mascot, and poster, and 800,000 won for the runners-up. The winning slogan receives 500,000 won, with 300,000 won for the runner-up, and the catchphrase winner receives 500,000 won, with 150,000 won each for two runners-up.
A city official stated, "We are pleased that outstanding works have been selected as the symbols that will represent the 64th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival," adding, "We will use the selected works to create various promotional materials after manual processing and foster a festive atmosphere for the successful hosting of the event."
