Park Hong-geun, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, recently criticized the situation where the ‘Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act’ ultimately failed to pass the 21st National Assembly due to President Yoon Seok-yeol’s veto power and the opposition of the People Power Party, drawing a parallel with singer Kim Ho-joong, who was recently arrested on charges of drunk driving and hit-and-run, and the situation of the agency that went out of business as a result of the incident.

In an interview with SBS Radio’s ‘Kim Tae-hyun’s Political Show’ on the 29th, Rep. Park pointed out, “The drunk driving incident involving Kim Ho-joong, who was loved by the public, and President Yoon’s veto of the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act are identical in that they both escalated the situation through lies and concealment, ultimately dragging things into a deeper quagmire.”

He said, “They tried to cover up with fabrication, concealment, and obstruction of justice, but in the end, Kim Ho-joong was arrested,” adding, “The Marine Corps death incident is similar, with continuous revelations of fabrication and concealment, and President Yoon’s exercise of veto power for ‘self-protection’ is obstructing the investigation.”

He continued, “At first, Kim Ho-joong insisted he absolutely did not drink, but later admitted it when alcohol metabolites were detected,” and argued, “Similarly, President Yoon dismissed Colonel Park Jeong-hoon, who claimed to be ‘furious,’ as ‘delusional,’ but when the circumstances came to light, he effectively admitted it by saying, ‘What’s wrong with being furious?’”

He added, “If President Yoon and the People Power Party continue to cover up the truth and recklessly proceed without fear of the people, their future will be no different from that of Kim Ho-joong and the agency that only protected him,” emphasizing, “Moreover, Kim Ho-joong’s failure to take appropriate action at the scene after the drunk driving accident and fleeing the scene reminds one of the so-called Run Jong-seop (the departure of former Ambassador Lee Jong-seop to Australia).”

Regarding the ruling party’s claim that “the opposition is continuously stirring up impeachment sentiment,” he retorted, “It’s like the one who started the fire shouting ‘Fire!’ at the burning place,” and said, “It is none other than the Yoon Seok-yeol administration that keeps accumulating grounds and mileage for impeachment.” He continued, “In the case of former President Park Geun-hye, the Korean people corrected her misconduct through impeachment in 2016,” and added, “The incompetence, misrule, arrogance, and dogmatism of the Yoon administration were sternly judged by the people through the 22nd general election.”
