BBC 'Beoningseun' Documentary Sparks Interest
Boyfriend Yong Junhyung Admits Watching Beoningseun Video
Singer HyunA is suffering from a barrage of malicious comments from overseas netizens. This follows the revelation that Yong Junhyung, a former member of the group Highlight who is in an open relationship with HyunA, was connected to the past 'Burning Sun scandal.' Recently, a BBC documentary revisiting the Burning Sun incident was released, drawing attention from abroad as well.
On the 28th, HyunA posted several photos on her Instagram account. They are presumed to have been taken during a trip to Japan, showing scenes of her dining and shopping locally. This was also her first post on social media since the BBC documentary about Burning Sun was released on the 19th.
However, the reactions from overseas netizens were cold. Comments such as "Your career is getting worse and worse," "I can no longer defend you," "Don't think this will just pass," "You are not on the woman's side," and "Did you go on this trip with your boyfriend?" were prevalent. Nonetheless, some comments defended her, saying "HyunA did nothing wrong, why should she suffer?" and "Don't attack innocent people."

The controversy surrounding HyunA is actually due to her boyfriend Yong Junhyung, not HyunA herself. Yong Junhyung admitted to watching illegal videos of singer Jung Joonyoung, a key figure in the 2019 Burning Sun scandal, and subsequently withdrew from his group Highlight. After the documentary was released and interest in the Burning Sun scandal increased both domestically and internationally, the controversy seems to have reignited and shifted back to HyunA.
Some overseas netizens criticized HyunA, claiming "Remember Goo Hara," and "You betrayed Goo Hara." Previously, SBS reporter Kang Kyung-yoon, who covered the Burning Sun scandal, appeared in the BBC documentary and revealed that Goo Hara greatly helped expose the group chatroom scandal. Reporter Kang was the first to expose the group chatroom involving singers Seungri, Jung Joonyoung, and Choi Jonghoon.
Meanwhile, Seungri, the central figure in the Burning Sun scandal, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for habitual gambling, prostitution, and mediation of prostitution, and was released in February last year. Jung Joonyoung was arrested in 2016 on charges including gang rape, sentenced to 5 years in prison, and was released after serving his full term in March this year. Choi Jonghoon also served a 2 year and 6 month sentence and was released in November 2021.
