Jung-gu to Host 'Craft Beer Big Maek Festival' Celebrating Namdaemun Market Arcade Construction from 29th to 31st

Jung-gu, Seoul will hold the 'Craft Beer Big Beer Festival' for three days from May 29 to 31 around Namdaemun Square.

The Namdaemun Market Merchants Association (President Moon Nam-yeop) plans to operate a food night market linked with craft beer breweries to attract more young people and foreign tourists to visit Namdaemun Market.

During the event, 16 craft beers will be showcased, including Namdaemun Beer, Art Monster, The Hot, Dongducheon Brewery, The Table, West End, Hidden Track, Bubble Chemistry, Vaneheim, Perfect Life, Mont Beer, Craft Root, Taepyeongyangjo, Hwasu Brewery, Gorilla Brewing, and Line Doich.

Snacks that pair perfectly with beer, such as steak, jokbal (pig's trotters), and sausages, will also be sold. DJing and busking performances will enhance the festival's excitement. The event can be enjoyed until 9 PM.

Visitors can also visit the newly created arcade section and participate in events such as uploading photos to SNS or a photo contest of the arcade's aerial view. A flea market featuring representative Namdaemun Market products like accessories and children's clothing will also be held.

The opening ceremony will take place at 11 AM on the 30th in front of Sungnyemun at Namdaemun Square. Congratulatory performances by Jeon Young-rok, Maronie Kim Jung-eun, Juha, and others are scheduled.

The Namdaemun Market arcade, reflecting Seoul city landmark design, began construction in April and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2025. This Merchants' Day event holds special significance in encouraging the merchants' hard work and commemorating the creation of the Namdaemun arcade.

Kim Gil-seong, head of Jung-gu Office, stated, “We will develop the Big Beer Festival, launched under the leadership of the Merchants Association, into a representative festival of Namdaemun Market.”
