40 Students File 54 Patent Applications... Grand Prize Awarded to Kyungil University
Dongmyung University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) announced on the 28th that it held the '2024 Ultra-wide Area University Alliance Patent Celeb Camp' at Ramada Hotel Hamdeok in Jeju from the 23rd to the 25th for three days and two nights.
This camp, now in its third year, was supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and jointly organized by Kyungil University, Dongmyung University, Dongshin University, and Jeju Tourism University.
During the camp, 40 students from the four universities filed 54 patent applications, and an award ceremony was held for students who presented creative ideas and outstanding startup items. The grand prize went to Kwon Hangyeom from the K-Beauty Department at Kyungil University for the '3 in 1 Pumping Cosmetic Container.'
The top excellence award was given to Kim Suhyeon from the Hotel Tourism Department at Jeju Tourism University for a green bean temperature and humidity controller, and the excellence award went to Guk Yechang from the Information and Communication Engineering Department at Dongshin University for a kiosk device utilizing hologram and gesture sensing technology.
The encouragement awards were given to Kim Hyunsan from the Hotel Tourism Department at Jeju Tourism University (neck pillow using Jeju volcanic scoria), Kim Hyeonjeong from the Smart Management Department at Kyungil University (automatic water supply and drainage system for pets), and Ha Seokjae from the Advertising and Public Relations Department at Dongmyung University (portable hat clip carabiner).
Kim Bomin from the Advertising and Public Relations Department at Dongmyung University became the 'Patent Application King' by filing four patent applications, including an octopus-shaped desk-attached cup holder.
Shin Dongseok, Head of the LINC3.0 Project Group, said, "The 54 patent applications are the result of the passion and effort of the participating students," and added, "We will provide various support to strengthen entrepreneurial capabilities so that students' creative ideas can be developed and lead to real-world startups."
The Startup Education Center of the Dongmyung University LINC3.0 Project Group previously conducted pre-education on electronic filing on the 10th, covering the entire electronic application process, including creative idea generation methods and intellectual property filing practices, with the goal of two patent applications per person.
The super-regional university alliance, including Dongmyung University, is conducting the "Patent Celeb Camp."
