Power Generation Resumes After Approval by Nuclear Safety and Security Commission
Wolsong Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) stopped the operation of Wolsong Unit 2 (a 700,000 kW pressurized heavy water reactor) on the 28th for statutory inspections and preventive maintenance to enhance reactor safety, commencing its 22nd planned preventive maintenance for 47 days.
During the planned preventive maintenance period, Wolsong Unit 2 will undergo regular inspections in accordance with the Nuclear Safety Act, replacement of the uninterruptible power supply system charger and batteries, disassembly and inspection of the low-pressure turbine, inspection of the steam generator, and other equipment maintenance and inspections. After completing these tasks and obtaining approval from the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, the unit is scheduled to resume power generation around July 14.
