According to Yonhap News on the 28th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul investigated Kim, who was detained in a holding cell after being arrested on the 24th, under the supervision of his lawyer.

During the investigation, Kim reportedly remained uncooperative in unlocking the iPhones, providing only some of the passwords for the three iPhones seized by the police, which are considered key evidence supporting the circumstances of his drinking.

Prior to his arrest, Kim refused the police's voluntary submission request for his mobile phones. After the three iPhones were seized, he did not disclose the passwords to the police, citing privacy concerns. When controversy arose over his lack of cooperation in the investigation, he later expressed through his lawyer his intention to provide the passwords. It is known that iPhones have a high level of security, making forensic analysis virtually impossible without unlocking the password.

During the investigation, the police focused on questioning Kim about the exact amount of alcohol he consumed at the time of the accident, as well as the extent of his involvement in concealing the accident, including swapping drivers. The police plan to continue intensive investigations with Kim and his agency officials and to complete the investigation soon to send the case to the prosecution.

Woo Jong-su, head of the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, said at a regular press briefing the day before, "There is objective evidence and sufficient witness testimony," adding, "Based on the evidence and statements obtained so far, it is sufficient to prove the crime of dangerous driving causing injury under the Special Act."
