Saeroun Mirae "People Will Not Forgive People Power Party That Rejected Public Sentiment"

Saeroun Mirae criticized on the 28th, saying, "The People Power Party, which rejected public sentiment by voting down the Special Prosecutor Act for Sergeant Chae Sang-byeong, will not be forgiven by the people."

Choi Seong, chief spokesperson of Saeroun Mirae's emergency committee, issued a statement that day, saying, "President Yoon Seok-yeol should have respected the public sentiment that he betrayed by exercising his veto power, at least in the National Assembly, but the People Power Party, which is no different from the 'Yongsan Yeouido branch office,' obstructed it, and public sentiment was abandoned once again."

Spokesperson Choi said, "'He who refuses the special prosecutor is the culprit' was a phrase previously used by the People Power Party," adding, "Now, the People Power Party, which has blocked the fact-finding investigation with their whole body, has become a co-principal offender."

He continued, "Saeroun Mirae's five members of parliament all attended and voted in favor of the Special Prosecutor Act for Sergeant Chae Sang-byeong," explaining, "This was to keep the promise of fact-finding made after visiting the grave of the late Sergeant Chae Su-geun right after the launch ceremony of the general election campaign headquarters."

Spokesperson Choi said, "As soon as the 22nd National Assembly convenes, we will not stop efforts to uncover the truth of the Chae Sang-byeong case," and added, "We will reveal to the public the truth that President Yoon Seok-yeol tried so hard to hide through investigation interference and veto of the bill, and the People Power Party tried to conceal by voting against it."

At the plenary session held at the National Assembly that afternoon, the Special Prosecutor Act for Sergeant Chae Sang-byeong was rejected by a secret ballot with 179 votes in favor, 111 against, and 4 invalid out of 294 members present. Accordingly, the Special Prosecutor Act for Sergeant Chae Sang-byeong was finally discarded.
