US Kiss Group with Annual Sales of 1.4 Trillion Won
Trying 'Ollio' False Eyelashes
Passed Korean KC Certification and Japanese Patch Test
Easy to Use Adhesive Band Without Glue
Long and voluminous curled eyelashes make the eyes appear larger and more defined. Consumers can choose from various methods, including makeup tools like mascara and eyelash curlers, procedures such as perming and extensions, and even artificial eyelashes. In particular, artificial eyelashes can be like an ‘oasis in the desert’ for those whose natural lashes are sparse or too short, making it difficult to achieve fullness with just makeup tools or procedures.
Kiss Group, which sold over 25 million no-glue ‘stick-on eyelashes’ products in the United States last year, launched and began distributing a brand called ‘Olio’ in Korea at the end of last year. Founded in 1989 in New York State, USA, Kiss Group is a global beauty company boasting the number one market share in the US fashion nail and artificial eyelash markets, with annual sales of approximately 1.4 trillion KRW. Chairman Jang Yong-jin, born in Hamyang, Gyeongsangnam-do, established the company after moving to the US as a teenager.
Olio’s no-glue eyelashes have passed domestic KC certification and Japanese patch tests, gaining recognition for safety and product quality in the market. While traditional eyelash products require glue (adhesive), Olio’s product uses an adhesive band similar to a Post-it note, making it much easier to use. In actual use, attaching it directly under the eyelashes caused almost no foreign body sensation.
When applying other artificial eyelashes, one must apply a special adhesive each time before attaching the product, which involves enduring the characteristic glue smell and dealing with significant skin irritation when removing them. Using them once required considering many side effects. Sometimes the skin would become red and swollen, tears would flow, and during periods of weakened immunity, conjunctivitis occurred, causing considerable discomfort for a while.
In contrast, this product feels as light and refreshing as temporarily sticking a small Post-it memo on the eyelashes and then removing it, causing almost no skin irritation and making it less burdensome to use.
Especially convenient was the fact that the width and eyelash length are slightly different by size (S, M, L, XL), allowing users to select the eyelash shape that best suits their personal needs. There are four designs in total (Natural, Wispy, Voluminous, Spiky). Users can choose according to their mood, events, or weather on any given day.
On formal occasions such as a relative’s or friend’s wedding or an important company event, I attached 4 to 5 pieces of eyelashes together to create a sharp eye look. For a light makeup look when going out briefly, attaching just one small piece of eyelash at the outer corner of the eye gave the effect of making the eyes look bigger, as if eyeliner had been applied. It was satisfying as it also shortened the preparation time for going out.
