Asan-si Discusses Response Measures for Reduced Supplementary Budget Projects

Asan City Council Cuts 14.8 Billion Won from 1st Supplementary Budget in Temporary Session
Vice Mayor Jo Ilgyo Orders "Prepare Alternative Plans for Cut Budget"

Asan-si Discusses Response Measures for Reduced Supplementary Budget Projects As the supplementary budget of 14.8 billion won was cut in Asan City, Chungnam Province, the vice mayor took the lead in preparing countermeasures for the cut projects.

As Asan City in Chungnam faces a supplementary budget cut of 14.8 billion KRW, the Vice Mayor has convened a meeting to devise countermeasures for the reduced projects.

On the 27th, Vice Mayor Jo Ilgyo presided over a discussion on major issues by departments and strategies to respond to the budget cut projects.

The Asan City Council cut 81 items totaling 14.83998 billion KRW from the supplementary budget proposal submitted by the city during the temporary session on the 10th. Previously, at the end of last year’s 2024 main budget review, 22.5 billion KRW was cut, so the city aimed to recover this through the supplementary budget but once again failed to pass the council’s approval.

In particular, most of the cuts targeted Mayor Park Kyung-gwi’s key campaign projects, signaling a red light for the fulfillment of these promises.

The actual cut projects include 100 million KRW for producing the Yi Sun-sin Opera related to the “Creating a Cultural City Overflowing with Festivals and Arts 365 Days a Year” pledge, 600 million KRW for operating the International 100 People 100 Colors Biennale, 60 million KRW for invited performances on Culture Day, 200 million KRW for the nationwide 200-ri bicycle race along waterways, and 150 million KRW for producing a funeral bier related to the “Yi Sun-sin Theme Experience Program” pledge.

Vice Mayor Jo Ilgyo stated, “Please prepare alternative plans for each project and respond accordingly, but if you proceed with any cut projects, be sure to communicate thoroughly with the council in advance.”

Additionally, the meeting ordered thorough review of administrative audit materials, swift response to the police hospital preliminary feasibility study through interdepartmental cooperation, strict prevention of the spread of fire blight in fruit trees, and meticulous preparation for the ‘Environment Day’ event.
