Jeongeup-si Promotes 'Rural and Fishing Village Working Holiday in Jeonbuk'

Jeongeup City in Jeollabuk-do announced on the 28th that it will promote the ‘2024 Rural Working Holiday in Jeollabuk-do’ project targeting the 50+ generation (ages 40 to 65) in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas to publicize various local resources and expand the population interested in the region.

This project is part of the establishment of the Agricultural and Fishing Village Job Plus Center. It places middle-aged people from the metropolitan area who wish to return to farming or rural living into local businesses that require specialized experience and knowledge, supporting the revitalization of these enterprises. It also provides metropolitan middle-aged participants with opportunities to gain work experience and explore the region.

The nine individuals selected as participants for the ‘Rural Working Holiday in Jeollabuk-do’ Jeongeup City program this year began basic education to understand the region on the 23rd. They will stay in Jeongeup for three months until the end of August, exploring the area and performing business support activities such as promotion, consulting, and market development at local companies.

A city official stated, “We hope that the working holiday participants’ stay and activities will serve as an opportunity to contribute to the revitalization of the local community,” adding, “We will continue efforts to expand the population interested in the region to respond to the crisis of population decline and regional extinction.”
