Twenty Busan Citizens Appointed Considering Age, Gender, and Occupation Groups
Expanding Opportunities for Citizen Communication and Participation in Management
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Kim Yonghak) held the inauguration ceremony for the 5th Citizens’ Participation Innovation Group on the 27th at the BMC conference room.
The Citizens’ Participation Innovation Group is an organization established to expand opportunities for citizens to participate in management, aiming for bottom-up innovation by reflecting citizens’ opinions in management.
Now in its fifth year, the Innovation Group has been recruiting and operating new members annually since 2020.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by BMC President Kim Yonghak, Executive Director Park Susaeng, and 20 members of the Innovation Group. The event included the awarding of appointment certificates, an introduction to BMC, and guidance on the activities of the Innovation Group.
The 5th Citizens’ Participation Innovation Group, which will be active until the end of the year, was recruited through open applications on the BMC website and SNS channels. Eighteen new members were selected, considering diversity in age (from their 20s to 50s), gender, occupation, and relevant experience, along with two outstanding members from last year who wished to continue, making a total of 20 members.
One of the members who attended the inauguration ceremony stated, “As a citizen of Busan, I will play a role in conveying opinions on the various directions and achievements of BMC’s projects. Especially this year, I plan to participate in offline activities such as site visits to help spread BMC’s achievements.”
A returning member who applied for reappointment shared, “I felt a sense of pride seeing the improvement measures I proposed during my activities being implemented the following year. I will unite with the new members and fulfill my responsibility as a citizen of Busan.”
BMC plans to support and encourage both online and offline activities so that the suggestions made by the Citizens’ Participation Innovation Group can be reflected in actual management.
Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, said, “I hope that a variety of ideas and proposals will emerge through the activities of the Citizens’ Participation Innovation Group. We will listen to the voices of citizens and work together with our staff to make daily life more convenient and happier for everyone.”
