Saudi Data and AI Authority Chief Visits Kakao Mobility... Discusses Technology Collaboration

Kakao Mobility announced on the 28th that a delegation from the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) visited its Pangyo headquarters.

SDAIA is an agency directly under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, leading the 'Saudi Vision 2030' initiative. The visit included key SDAIA figures such as Chairman Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi. From the Kakao Group, Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Geung-seon, Jang Sung-wook, Head of the Future Mobility Research Institute, Yoo Seung-il, Chief Technology Officer, and Yoo Young-jung, Chief Financial Officer, attended. Lee Sang-ho, Kakao’s Chief AI Officer, and Shin Ho-jun, Head of the AI Contact Center Team at Kakao Enterprise, were also present.


Kakao Mobility introduced its vision for future mobility technologies including autonomous driving, robotics, urban air mobility (UAM), and digital twins, along with actual service cases. Chairman Abdullah Al-Ghamdi and his delegation experienced the autonomous vehicles operating as public services around Pangyo. They also toured the robot delivery service and the mobile mapping system (MMS) robots operating at the Pangyo headquarters.


SDAIA showed keen interest in the current status and commercialization potential of future mobility services in Korea such as autonomous driving and robot delivery, as well as Kakao Mobility’s expertise in mobility big data and platform operations. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on ways to provide future mobility services in Saudi Arabia and other regions.


Ryu Geung-seon, CEO of Kakao Mobility, stated, "The technological infrastructure and AI technologies accumulated through mobility big data at Kakao Mobility will serve as core infrastructure for the future mobility industry. We will strive not only to accelerate the commercialization of services such as autonomous driving, robotics, and UAM domestically but also to create various technology export cases in the global market."
