Going forward, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups have agreed to cooperate in areas such as the root industry, advanced robotics, and overseas certification. Additionally, they will link the Korea Sale Festa (Kosepe) organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy with the Donghaeng Festival hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The win-win cooperation council for large and small businesses, which discusses improvements to large mart business regulations, will also be resumed.
On the 28th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups held the "Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy - Ministry of SMEs and Startups Policy Council" at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' main conference room in the Government Sejong Complex, with Vice Ministers Kang Kyung-sung and Oh Ki-woong attending respectively, and discussed cooperation plans of this nature.
The two ministries agreed to mutually link various research and development (R&D) projects they support and jointly assist overseas expansion. For example, small and medium enterprises or small business owners selected as manufacturing innovation automation companies by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will receive preferential treatment from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in the root company smartization project. Also, companies or small business owners selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s root company smartization project can receive preferential treatment in loan limits or interest rates when applying for policy funds from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The two ministries will promote each other’s events and establish new sales exhibitions to maintain consumer enthusiasm through the Donghaeng Festival held in September and December and the Kosepe held in November. Accordingly, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to hold special exhibitions at department stores and large marts, as well as discount events at duty-free shops and convenience stores during the Donghaeng Festival. The Kosepe will also expand special exhibitions of products from small and medium enterprises and small business owners.
The two ministries plan to hold a large and small distribution win-win cooperation council in June to discuss improvements to large mart regulations. The cooperation council will include the Korea Chain Store Association, the National Federation of Merchants, the Korea Supermarket Cooperative Federation, and the Office for Government Policy Coordination.
