Former Employee of Jang Woo-hyuk's Agency Accusing Assault, No Indictment for Defamation Charges

Police "Case Closed with No Charges"

The police have determined that there is no defamation charge against former employee A, who was sued after exposing the abusive behavior of singer Jang Woo-hyuk, a member of the first-generation idol group H.O.T.

On the 27th, the Dongjak Police Station in Seoul announced that they recently decided not to prosecute A, who was sued in July 2022 for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act.

A police official explained, "After review, it was concluded that the elements of defamation were not met, so the case was closed with 'no charges'."

Defamation is established when a person publicly states facts or falsehoods with the intent to slander a specific individual.

A, who was an employee of WH Creative, the agency represented by Jang, claimed in June 2022 on an online community that he was verbally and physically abused by Jang Woo-hyuk.

In response, Jang reportedly sued A for defamation and obstruction of business, alleging that A maliciously spread false information and posted malicious comments.

At the time, WH Creative stated, "After directly meeting with many related parties who worked together and verifying the facts, we confirmed that the content of the expos? was not true," and added, "The post contained false information intended to slander Jang Woo-hyuk, damaging his reputation."
