Democratic Party Holds 'Freshman Lawmaker Innovation Lecture'
Lee Hae-chan Leads as First Lecturer on Legislative Activities
Emphasizing 'Party Members'... Lee: "Self-Reliance Through Surge in Registered Party Members"

Lee Hae-chan, Senior Advisor of the Democratic Party of Korea, gave a lecture on the attitude of public officials and the direction of legislative activities to first-term elected members. He pointed out that unlike the 21st National Assembly, which started with the ruling party, the 22nd National Assembly begins as the opposition party, advising them to take the lead in the two-year struggle against the ruling party in the early stages of the assembly.

On the 27th at 4 p.m., at the central party office in Yeouido, Seoul, Lee taught the attitude required as a member of the National Assembly during the '22nd First-term Lawmakers Innovation Lecture.' In his lecture, he emphasized balancing local activities, central party activities, and legislative activities, while stressing the need to oppose the Yoon Seok-yeol administration in the early stages of the 22nd National Assembly. He stated, "When selecting candidates for the general election, those who did not actively attend rallies hosted by the central party were eliminated in the primaries," adding, "To avoid misunderstandings among party members, the first two years should focus heavily on the struggle against the ruling party." He analyzed that the 'government judgment theory' was valid in the 22nd general election, and accordingly, first-term lawmakers must show opposition to the government to satisfy voters.

Lee also stated that the Democratic Party can achieve economic independence centered on party members with voting rights. He said, "In the 21st National Assembly, the Democratic Party secured 180 seats including proportional representation, and this time, we obtained 171 seats," adding, "However, since this time we won as the opposition party, the significance is much greater." He continued, "The party is actually changing a lot," claiming, "Party members with voting rights have become the main force. There is probably no other party this massive worldwide." He confidently added, "The party has become very active, collecting about 20 billion won in party dues, achieving complete (economic) independence."

He also mentioned the importance of living frugally. He said, "It is important to maintain a mindset of living frugally as usual," adding, "During my seven terms as a member of the National Assembly, such issues have never arisen." He further said, "Since voters watch every move closely, think of living in a fishbowl," emphasizing, "Truthfulness, sincerity, and earnestness are crucial."
