Accelerating Future Business through AI Robot Capability Internalization
Daedong announced on the 27th that it has established Daedong AI Lab, a specialized artificial intelligence (AI) robot company, as a subsidiary.
Daedong established Daedong AI Lab to actively promote the commercialization of AI robot products. Daedong AI Lab is operated with the goal of becoming an R&D company specializing in AI general-purpose software embedded in robots. To this end, it collaborates with Daedong, Daedong Mobility, Daedong AgTech, and others to develop AI systems such as machine learning operating systems and integrated autonomous driving control systems for agricultural machinery and mobility.
Daedong plans to begin applying this technology to agricultural robots scheduled for release in the second half of this year, and from 2025, it will gradually launch agricultural and outdoor industrial robots equipped with AI system-based intelligence, automation, and unmanned functions.
The CEO of Daedong AI Lab is Na Young-jung, head of Daedong's AI Platform Division. CEO Na previously managed a startup that provided Korea's first video-based vehicle telematics service and later developed and operated a global B2B platform, joining Daedong in 2022 as a platform business expert. The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is Lee Beom-woo, who holds a bachelor's and master's degree in physics from Seoul National University and was recruited after conducting AI-based video analysis technology research and simulations at LG Chem's Technology Research Institute.
Won Yoo-hyun, CEO of Daedong Group, overseeing the entire group, stated, “Since 2022, rapidly advancing AI technology has brought many changes and new opportunities across all industries, and Daedong AI Lab will be a key factor in propelling Daedong and the group to become a leading company in future agriculture.” He added, “Starting with agricultural transport robots and pest control robots scheduled for release in the second half of the year, we will equip Daedong's AI technology and expand to harvest robots, cleaning robots, and more in the future.”
