"Let's All Die": Woman Security Guard Subdues Man in His 40s Attempting to Set Court on Fire

Disturbance at Busan District Court Western Branch Entrance by Spilling Oil
Resentful Over 1.5 Million Won Violence Fine, Arrested for Arson Preparation

A dangerous arson attempt nearly resulted in a courthouse fire. A female security guard played a crucial role in preventing the arson by restraining the suspect from the outset and confiscating the flammable liquid and lighter he had brought.

Busan Gangseo Police Station announced on the 27th that a man in his 40s was arrested after attempting arson at the courthouse entrance out of dissatisfaction with a court ruling.

The suspect, identified as A, is accused of attempting to pour petroleum from a 500ml plastic bottle and set it on fire near the security checkpoint at the entrance of Busan District Court Seobu Branch at around 2:17 p.m. on the 23rd, motivated by resentment over a recent fine sentence.

According to police, A forcefully bypassed the court security checkpoint and poured petroleum on a social service worker stationed at the entrance, shouting "Let's all die" and causing a disturbance.

At that moment, a female security guard took the lead, physically struggling with A and managing to seize the plastic bottle, sprayer, and lighter from his hands. Other security guards then joined in to subdue him. After restraining the suspect, the security guards called 112 and handed him over to the police.

It is reported that A attempted arson out of dissatisfaction with a recent court ruling that fined him 1.5 million won for charges including assault.

The police applied for an arrest warrant for A on charges of attempted arson of an inhabited building and obstruction of official duties, and the court issued the warrant on the 25th.
