Actor Johnny Walter, who gained fame by appearing in the popular American drama "General Hospital," was fatally shot during a carjacking incident.

On the 26th (local time), local media including AP News and ABC-7, citing a statement from the bereaved family, reported that "Johnny Walter (37) was shot and killed during a robbery on a street in Los Angeles (LA)."

The incident reportedly occurred around 3 a.m. the previous day. At the time, Walter was walking to his parked car with a colleague after leaving a bar. Walter noticed unfamiliar people surrounding his vehicle and mistakenly thought they were tow truck operators. When Walter approached them and asked, "Is my car being towed?" one of them suddenly pulled out a gun and fired.

Walter collapsed after being shot, and the three suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. Walter was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but ultimately passed away.

According to the LA police investigation, the three suspects around Walter's car were not tow truck employees but robbers. They were attempting to steal the catalytic converter (a device that reduces emissions from diesel vehicles) from Walter's car. Meanwhile, as of the 27th, the LA police had not yet apprehended the suspects.

After Walter's death, his agent David Shaul released a statement saying, "Walter was a person who set a moral example for everyone," adding, "Despite a career with many ups and downs, he always maintained a confident attitude and worked hard. His death will leave an eternal hole in our hearts."

The drama "General Hospital," in which Walter appeared, aired on the US ABC channel from 2020 to 2022. Having gained public recognition through this drama, he was building his career by appearing in various popular TV series such as "Station 19," "NCIS," and "Westworld."
