Overview of 54 African Countries, Including Relations with Korea and Other Information
The Export-Import Bank of Korea announced on the 27th that it has published the "Africa Data Book (DATABOOK)" in line with the upcoming "Korea-Africa Summit" to be held in June.
This book categorizes the 54 African countries into five regions (Eastern, Western, Central, Southern, Northern) and provides clear information on country overviews, investment environments, and trade relations with Korea. It also offers images showing the top countries by Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and population, membership status in regional economic communities, the potential of energy resources by region, and mobile phone penetration rates to help readers better understand the content.
Africa has a population of 1.4 billion, with 60% under the age of 25, indicating significant growth potential as a consumer market, and it possesses abundant key mineral resources. In particular, since the launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in 2019, which includes all 54 countries, intra-regional trade has been expanding further as a massive single market.
The Export-Import Bank of Korea plans to distribute the Africa DATABOOK free of charge to government ministries, the National Assembly, financial institutions, companies, media, and African embassies in Korea, and will also post it on the bank’s Overseas Economic Research Institute website.
