The Research Encouragement Grant for Master’s Students, organized by the National Research Foundation of Korea, is a newly established academic support program in science and engineering this year. It provides research opportunities according to the developmental stage of the next generation of scholars, supporting their growth into outstanding researchers of the future.
With this selection, the 10 master’s students from Pukyong National University will each receive 12 million KRW in research funding and will engage in promising research, including advanced fields, for one year.
Research projects selected this time include “Structure of the Marine Atmospheric Boundary Layer Investigated by Aircraft Observation” by Bae Hyukjin (Department of Earth Environmental System Science); “Establishment of a Surface Change Detection Dataset and Development of AI Models Using CAS500 Satellite Images of Korea” by Kim Riweon (Department of Earth Environmental System Science); and “Development of High-Quality Frozen Sashimi Production Technology Using Micro Ice Crystals and Establishment of Quality Evaluation Technology Based on Ice Crystal Measurement” by Kwon Gayoun (Department of Food Engineering).
Other selected projects include “Effects of LED Wavelengths on Growth, Stress, and Immunity of Abalone” by Joo Bohyeon (Department of Fisheries Biology); “Pose Estimation of Tracked Objects through LiDAR-Camera Sensor Fusion for Robust Visual Servoing of Manipulators” by Kim Jeongjun (Department of Intelligent Robotics Engineering); “Investigation of Hydrogen Embrittlement Behavior of Maraging 300 Steel Manufactured by L-PBF” by Kim Taehyeong (Department of Metallurgical Engineering); and “Study on Alkali Metal Phosphide Anode Materials for High-Performance Sodium-Ion Batteries” by Ha Sion (Department of Materials Engineering).
Additionally, ongoing research projects include “Development of Mechanocromic Nanocomposites for User-Direct Damage Evaluation of General-Purpose Plastics” by Lee Hyeju (Department of Polymer Engineering); “Development of a Deep Learning-Based Algorithm for Detecting Domestic Forest Fire Damage Sites through Fusion of Medium- and High-Resolution Satellite Images” by Seo Youngmin (Department of Earth Environmental System Science); and “Development of a Novel Anti-Aging Therapeutic by Introducing Skin Adhesion Ability to Extracellular Vesicles” by Yoo Donghyeon (Department of Biotechnology).
