Husband's SOS: "Wife keeps bleeding"... Police emergency escort helps overcome crisis

A Man in His 50s Asked Police for Help
"The Road Is Too Congested... My Wife's Life Seems to Be in Danger"

An emergency patient whose cancer surgery suture site burst safely overcame the crisis with an escort by a police sidecar, a story that has recently come to light and attracted attention.

According to a report by Yonhap News on the 27th, at around 8:20 a.m. on the 9th of last month, Park Sin-ju, a sergeant from the Traffic Division of Suwon Nambu Police Station, who was on duty for morning traffic at the Maetan Gwonsun Station intersection in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, received an urgent request from a driver in his 50s, Mr. A. Mr. A said, "My wife's cancer surgery site won't stop bleeding." In the back seat of Mr. A's car sat his wife, Ms. B, in her 40s, with her eyes tightly shut and bleeding from her body.

Mr. A anxiously said, "There was no time to call 119, so I drove out, but the road is too congested," and "I think my wife's life is in danger if this continues." Judging the situation to be serious, Sergeant Park decided to escort the patient to the hospital with Officer Park Jin-woo and immediately sounded the siren on the sidecar.

Sergeant Park ran in front of the vehicle, and Officer Park ran behind it. In congested areas, they crossed the center line and ran red lights to speed up. At intersections, Sergeant Park moved ahead, gave hand signals, and controlled the vehicles in each lane so that Mr. A's car could pass. As a result, Ms. B was able to pass through 6.5 km of heavily congested downtown Suwon roads in 5 minutes and safely arrive at Suwon St. Vincent Hospital.

Ms. B, who had undergone surgery for sarcoma, was in a critical condition due to the burst suture site, but thanks to the prompt arrival at the hospital and treatment, she is now reported to have recovered her health. Mr. A said, "I am truly grateful to the police officers who helped in this emergency situation," and added, "If we had been even a little late, it could have been a disaster." Sergeant Park said, "I just did what I was supposed to do as a police officer."

Netizens who heard this story responded with various comments such as "A heartwarming story from the morning," "It warms my heart," "If it weren't for the police's help, it could have been a disaster. Wishing the patient a speedy recovery," "I always feel reassured when I see the police. Thank you," and "I hope there are more stories like this."
