Oh Youngju Meets SME Minister to Propose Inclusion of 'Korea Entrepreneurship Hall' in Next Year's Government Budget
Jinju Mayor Cho Kyu-il announced on the 27th that he met with Minister Oh Youngju of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups at the Government Complex Seoul to promote the spread of Jinju K-Entrepreneurship.
During the meeting, Mayor Cho requested continued interest and participation in the “Feasibility Study for the Establishment of the Korea Entrepreneurship Hall” being conducted by Jinju City. He also proposed that the government allocate the budget for the detailed design service for the Korea Entrepreneurship Hall in the 2025 national budget.
Additionally, he invited the minister to attend the opening ceremony of the “Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Youth Forum,” which is scheduled to be held from July 8 to 9 at the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Center and the Gyeongnam Esports Permanent Stadium.
Mayor Cho Gyuil is visiting the Government Seoul Office Building and having a meeting with Oh Youngjoo, Minister of SMEs and Startups.
In response, Minister Oh expressed gratitude for Jinju City's efforts to promote the excellence of K-Entrepreneurship both domestically and internationally, stating, “The government will actively support the Korea Entrepreneurship Hall project to accelerate Korea’s new economic leap forward, and I will also positively consider attending the Youth Forum.”
Subsequently, Mayor Cho met with Director Kim Sunghee of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art to discuss the establishment of the Jinju branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
Mayor Cho requested that the feasibility study for the establishment of the Jinju branch be expedited, and asked for the inclusion of the remodeling and exhibition design service budget for the Jinju branch in the 2025 national budget to ensure the project gains momentum.
Director Kim stated, “The process for the feasibility study for the establishment of the Jinju branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is underway, and we will do our best to complete it within this year.”
So far, Jinju City has focused its administrative efforts on establishing the Jinju branch (Southern Branch) of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art to bridge the cultural gap with the metropolitan area and promote balanced development. As a result, this year, a budget of 200 million KRW for the feasibility study for the Jinju branch has been allocated in the national budget.
Meanwhile, in the morning, an honorary citizenship certificate was awarded to Jang Sanghun, former Director of the National Jinju Museum, at the National Folk Museum of Korea.
Jang Sanghun, who served as Director of the National Jinju Museum from January 2021 to May 2024, organized numerous special and planned exhibitions. Notably, the “Flow of Korean Color Paintings” exhibition, jointly planned with Jinju City, attracted approximately 71,000 visitors in its first run in 2022 and 102,000 visitors in its second run in 2023.
While presenting the honorary citizenship certificate, Mayor Cho expressed his deep gratitude for Jang’s dedication and efforts toward the development of culture and arts in Jinju City, and requested continued interest in projects such as the Jinju History Museum and the Korea Entrepreneurship Hall currently being promoted by the city.
