Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Public Hearing on the Draft Enforcement Decree and Rules of the 'Gugak Promotion Act'

Reviewing Opinions from Various Sectors Ahead of July 26 Implementation

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold a public hearing on the draft enforcement decree and rules of the "Gugak Promotion Act" at the Pungnyu Sarangbang of the National Gugak Center on the 31st. The main contents of the draft will be explained, and the key opinions and issues from regional field meetings conducted by Dr. Lee Jeong-hee of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute will be presented. Professors Song Hye-jin of Sookmyung Women's University, Seong Gi-suk of the Korea National University of Arts, composer Won Il, and Lee Yong-sik, vice chairman of the Korean Gugak Society, will also participate in the discussion.

The draft enforcement decree and rules of the "Gugak Promotion Act" stipulate matters delegated to subordinate legislation under the "Gugak Promotion Act" enacted on July 25 last year. It includes contents such as surveys, designation of professional manpower training institutions, and Gugak Day. It is scheduled to be enforced on July 26. Shin Eun-hyang, Director of Arts Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "We must fasten the first button well at the stage of enacting subordinate legislation," and added, "We will also prepare to ensure that subsequent procedures such as establishing basic plans and conducting surveys are implemented smoothly."


The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will finalize the draft after comprehensively reviewing opinions from the public hearing, related ministries, and local governments. In addition, the legislative notice period for the draft enforcement decree and rules of the "Gugak Promotion Act," which began on the 7th, will continue until the 17th of next month. Those who wish to submit opinions can do so through the Public Participation Legislation Center.
