Daejeon City to Accept Applications for Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Starting June

Housing Stability Support Fund, Moving Expenses for Public Rental Housing, Monthly Rent Assistance, and More

Daejeon City announced that starting in June, it will actively promote a support project for victims of jeonse fraud to ensure housing stability and protect tenants.

The support targets tenants recognized as victims of jeonse fraud under the special law, whose damaged housing is located in Daejeon and who must reside with their resident registration in Daejeon.

Support includes housing stability support funds for victims (up to 1 million KRW depending on the number of household members), moving expenses when moving into public rental housing (up to 1 million KRW), and monthly rent support (up to 4.8 million KRW when moving from the damaged housing to private housing).

Applications can be submitted by visiting the Daejeon Support Center in person within the application period announced by the center or by using the online Government24 service. Applicants must bring a copy of the jeonse fraud victim decision document, a resident registration certificate, and a copy of their bankbook. Those applying for moving expenses need to submit copies of the public housing lease contract, moving contract, and receipts, while monthly rent applicants must provide a copy of the lease contract (with a confirmed date stamp) and monthly rent transfer statements.

Once the victim’s application is received, it will take up to 20 days for confirmation of support by Daejeon City and payment.

Lee Jang-woo, Mayor of Daejeon, said, “Since the jeonse fraud victim support project is being promoted to protect tenants in the jurisdiction, I hope it will help stabilize the housing of all victims.”

Meanwhile, as of the 13th, there are 2,191 victims of jeonse fraud in Daejeon, mainly residing in multi-family housing (96%) and predominantly young adults in their 20s and 30s (86%) as the main tenants.
