KCC and LG Chem join hands to research and develop coatings using eco-friendly raw materials.
On the 27th, KCC announced that it signed a 'Business Agreement for Research and Development of Eco-friendly Materials and Coating-related Technologies' with LG Chem.
The signing ceremony held on the 23rd was attended by 20 representatives from both companies, including KCC CTO (Chief Technology Officer) Vice President Kim Sang-hoon and LG Chem CTO Vice President Lee Jong-gu.

Through this business agreement, KCC and LG Chem will collaborate on research and development in various coating fields such as ▲automotive ▲automotive parts ▲industrial ▲mobile by applying eco-friendly raw materials based on carbon dioxide conversion or microbial fermentation to coating resin synthesis.
KCC expects that through collaboration with LG Chem, it will be able to expand environmentally friendly products and reduce the energy required for product manufacturing.
KCC Vice President Kim Sang-hoon said, “The MOU between the two companies is expected to accelerate the development of products applying eco-friendly raw materials,” adding, “LG Chem’s carbon-neutral materials developed this time are not only excellent in eco-friendliness but also can upgrade product quality, creating great synergy with KCC coatings.”
LG Chem Vice President Lee Jong-gu said, “It is significant that two leading companies in the chemical industry have come together to join forces for eco-friendliness,” and added, “We will strive to set new standards for eco-friendly products and develop various materials.”
Meanwhile, KCC is leading the development of eco-friendly water-based coatings such as Forest Putty Washable, low-temperature curing coatings for electric vehicles, and Sumix water-based coatings for automotive repair, and is committed to ESG management by forming an Environmental Safety Committee and focusing company-wide attention.
