Man Who Lost Credit Card Visits Last Payment Location
Female Students Buy 300 Won Candy and Keep It
"Felt Like Receiving an Unexpected Gift... It Was Touching"
Thanks to the warm hearts and sensible ideas of the female students, a lost card was found, a story that has been shared. On the 27th, Jeju regional broadcaster JIBS reported, "Recently, a man in his 60s named Han experienced losing his frequently used credit card."
On the evening of the 19th, around 9:21 PM, Mr. Han received a text message on his phone without realizing he had lost his credit card. The notification stated that someone had made a 300 won payment at a convenience store using his credit card. At first, he thought it was just a credit card transaction fee and didn’t pay much attention to it.
However, the next day, Mr. Han realized that the credit card he thought was in his coat pocket was missing. He said, "When I got off the bus, I tagged my card for exit and was supposed to put it in my pocket, but I probably didn’t put it in and dropped it."
As soon as he became aware of this, Mr. Han called the bank to report the lost card. The bank suggested, "The last transaction was at a convenience store; why don’t you try going there?" Following this advice, Mr. Han went to the convenience store and found his credit card carefully placed inside a plastic zipper bag. The 300 won from the earlier payment notification was also there.
Upon reviewing the convenience store’s CCTV footage, it was seen that two female students were looking around the store and then purchased one lollipop. After paying for the lollipop with the card, the girls communicated something to the store clerk and left. Mr. Han told JIBS, “It seems they bought the cheapest 300 won candy to trigger the notification text to me and left some coins behind.”
The convenience store employee said, "They said they would come to find the card, so they made the payment. I never thought of such a method while working here, but I thought it was kind and conscientious."
Mr. Han expressed his gratitude to the female students, saying, “I saw the payment notification and just ignored it, but it turned out to be a brilliant idea. I felt like I received an unexpectedly great gift. Usually, when people find lost items, they tend to throw them away or leave them unattended rather than returning them. It was touching to see such an act, rare among today’s generation.”
However, even though making a small payment to help find a lost card may come from a warm heart, such actions should be approached with caution as the card owner might perceive it as a criminal act.
