Expert and Citizen Participation Scheduled for the 30th to Hear Various Views
A public hearing on the basic plan for the construction of the Ulsan Hydrogen Electric Tram project will be held.
The Ulsan city government announced on the 27th that it will hold a public hearing regarding the basic plan for the Ulsan Urban Railway Line 1 construction project at 3 p.m. on the 30th in the auditorium on the second floor of the Ulsan Museum.
This public hearing has been organized as a preliminary administrative procedure for establishing the 'Ulsan Urban Railway Line 1 Construction Project Basic Plan (draft)' in order to gather various opinions from relevant experts and citizens.
On this day, a public hearing in accordance with the 'Urban Railway Act' and a resident briefing session on the draft Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment in accordance with the 'Environmental Impact Assessment Act' will be held simultaneously.
This project aims to connect an 11km section from Taehwagang Station, the center of Ulsan, to Sinbok Rotary with a hydrogen electric tram. It passed the feasibility re-examination by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in August last year.
After passing the feasibility re-examination, the Ulsan city government further specified the project plan for 'Ulsan Urban Railway Line 1' and prepared the basic plan.
The public hearing will proceed in the order of expert discussions and exchanges of opinions on the basic plan, followed by the collection of opinions from attending citizens.
The Ulsan city government will provide detailed explanations on the following: ▲detailed route plans and extensions ▲vehicle system selection ▲station and vehicle depot plans ▲urban railway construction and operation plans ▲draft of the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment, among others.
Citizens who are unable to attend can submit their opinions by phone, fax, or email to the responsible department, the Metropolitan Tram Transportation Division, by 6 p.m. on June 17.
An Ulsan city official said, "We hope for a wide range of opinions from experts and citizens so that a substantial basic plan can be established," and added, "We will do our best to provide a new means of transportation for Ulsan citizens and lay the foundation for sustainable urban development."
Ulsan Mayor Kim Dugyeom is giving an on-site briefing about the Ulsan Hydrogen Tram project last April.
