Oh Eon-seok, District Mayor, “Will Create a Strong Employment and Startup Ecosystem by Linking Startup Hub Changdong with Seed Cube Changdong”
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it has established the 'Dobong-gu Youth Startup Center' on the 4th floor of Seed Cube Changdong and held an opening ceremony on May 24.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 100 people, including Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu, city and district council members, and young entrepreneurs residing in the center. The event included guest speeches, progress reports, viewing of the Youth Startup Center introduction video, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a facility tour.
On this day, Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu stated, "With the establishment of the Youth Startup Center, Changdong is expected to firmly establish itself as a genuine youth startup hub. We will create a robust startup ecosystem in connection with Startup Hub Changdong and Seed Cube Changdong."
The 'Dobong-gu Youth Startup Center' is a youth startup incubating space that provides young people with startup spaces and systematic customized programs.
Covering an area of 637.02㎡, the center includes ▲ startup spaces such as 2-person rooms, 4-person rooms, and shared offices ▲ specialized business offices for supporting 3D video content startups ▲ a multipurpose studio for video production and product photography ▲ an education room for startup training and programs ▲ meeting rooms for partner company meetings and mentoring.
The center is entrusted and operated by the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Kwangwoon University, which is registered as a startup planner (accelerator) under the Small and Medium Enterprise Startup Support Act. The foundation plans to support resident companies with growth-stage programs such as ▲ dedicated and professional mentoring ▲ support linked to promotional platforms ▲ investment capability enhancement ▲ networking expansion.
Currently, a total of 21 companies reside in the center. Earlier, in February of this year, the district publicly recruited resident companies and selected those with high growth potential through document evaluation and interviews from 40 applicants.
The district is also preparing support for young people preparing to start businesses who are not residing in the center. Plans include startup consultation services, education for building business models, and startup idea competitions. Applications for startup programs and facility rentals can be made later through the Dobong-gu Youth Startup Center website.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, "We will actively support the Youth Startup Center to establish itself as a youth industry-academic cluster and to grow into a startup incubating space."
