"AI PC Innovation... The Era of Hybrid AI Arrives"

Eight companies, including American big tech firms Intel, Qualcomm, and Google, as well as Taiwanese companies ASUS and Quanta, participating in Asia's largest IT exhibition 'Computex 2024' held in Taiwan from June 4 to 7 next month, have announced positive outlooks on the AI PC and AI semiconductor markets. Along with an analysis predicting that the generative AI market will generate an economic effect of 600 trillion KRW annually, there is also a forecast that a hybrid AI era will come in the future.

Eight Computex participants, including Intel, Qualcomm, Google (all from the U.S.), Pegatron, ASUS, Quanta, AUO, and Lite-On (all from Taiwan), recently announced that the AI PC and AI semiconductor markets will grow explosively. They attended the 'Computex Exhibition Pre-Event - AI PC Industry Outlook Forum,' jointly hosted by the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), Computex, and InnoVEX, to discuss the impact of AI PCs and AI on Taiwan's industry.

The eight companies involved in semiconductors, software, branding, manufacturing, and key components viewed the future of AI PCs optimistically. They anticipated not only market growth but also that the AI industry would trigger a 'new wave' of technology.

American big tech companies forecast explosive growth in the AI semiconductor and AI PC markets. Wang Zahui, Vice President of Intel and head of its Taiwan branch, said, "Future AI-related applications will play a crucial role everywhere," adding, "As demand for AI workloads increases, the semiconductor industry is expected to have a market potential of $1 trillion (approximately 1370 trillion KRW) by 2030."

Lius Tai, Vice President of Qualcomm and head of Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and New Zealand regions, stated, "Generative AI will become the latest interface, bringing an economic benefit of $2.6 trillion (approximately 3560 trillion KRW) to $4.4 trillion (approximately 6020 trillion KRW) annually to the world," and added, "As generative AI becomes increasingly complex, a hybrid AI era will emerge in the future."

There was also an opinion that as AI advances, users will find it easier to use AI. Mada Kang, Google Taiwan's representative, emphasized, "Google's large language model Gemini will become everyone's AI assistant," and said, "It will help users complete complex tasks through applications or web versions."

Executives of Taiwanese companies said that as the AI ecosystem advances, the computer industry will have an opportunity to take a leap forward. Hsu Bin, Co-CEO of ASUS, predicted, "AI PCs will bring innovative developments to PC architecture, especially the human-machine interface of generative AI," and added, "They will provide a more intuitive and immersive experience in the interaction between consumers and PCs." He further stated, "Thanks to AI's impact on PCs, growth opportunities in the computer industry will arise once again."

Feng Xianglang, Chairman of AUO and director of TCA, said, "AI PCs will expand AI applications to various industries, such as industrial computers." Yang Qiling, Vice President of Quanta and General Manager of Wistron, said, "With the rapid development of applications such as generative AI, edge computing, and 5th generation (5G) mobile communication networks, the AI PC trend will become an inevitable phenomenon," adding, "Business opportunities will also explode together."

Computex 2024 is an event hosted by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and TCA. It is expected to attract over 1,500 companies from 26 countries. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA; Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel; Lisa Su, CEO of AMD; and Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, will attend.
