"Fascinated by Hahoe Village and Andong Jjimdak... Japanese Fam Tour Group Visits Andong"

Gyeongbuk Province and the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation are currently hosting a mega fam tour in Andong from the 23rd to the 24th for a group of 54 Japanese travel industry professionals and journalists. This visit was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations and to attract Japanese tourists while laying the groundwork for the development of special tourism products in Gyeongbuk.

This fam tour is attended by key product planners from major Japanese travel agencies and representatives from media outlets, who are gathering tourism information and conducting on-site coverage of Gyeongbuk’s tourist destinations.

"Fascinated by Hahoe Village and Andong Jjimdak... Japanese Fam Tour Group Visits Andong" A famtour group of 54 people, including Japanese travel industry officials and journalists, is taking a commemorative photo while visiting Andong.

The fam tour group specifically chose Andong in Gyeongbuk as their destination because it is known as a city where visitors can experience high-quality culinary culture and authentic Korean traditions, as recognized by the Korea Tourism Organization’s “Top 30 Korean Gourmet Tourism Destinations.”

During the two-day visit, the group explored Andong’s main attractions, including Hahoe Village and Wolyeonggyo Bridge, experiencing Gyeongbuk’s cultural heritage and tourist sites firsthand.

At Hahoe Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the group focused on filming and reporting as they toured traditional houses, architectural structures, and the village scenery. At Wolyeonggyo Bridge, they enjoyed a beautiful fountain show and the nighttime views, and also experienced Korean culture indirectly by riding the Moon Boat, an activity unique to Andong’s Wolyeonggyo Bridge.

They also deepened their understanding of Gyeongbuk’s culinary culture by tasting a variety of Andong dishes, including Andong Jjimdak, which is featured in the Korea Tourism Organization’s “Top 30 Korean Gourmet Tourism Destinations,” as well as galbi and yukhoe bibimbap.

A Japanese travel industry official who participated in the fam tour said, “I was completely captivated by the charm of Andong, including Hahoe Village and Andong Jjimdak. Through this fam tour, I was able to truly experience the appeal of Gyeongbuk tourism, and I plan to develop a variety of specialized Gyeongbuk products.”

Kim Namil, President of the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation, stated, “This mega fam tour was an opportunity to directly introduce Gyeongbuk’s excellent culinary culture and tourism resources to Japanese travel industry professionals and journalists. We will use this as a foundation to develop special tourism products for Japanese visitors and make every effort to attract more Japanese tourists to Gyeongbuk.”
