Incheon Office of Education Increases 1st Supplementary Budget by 335.2 Billion Won... Laptop Distribution and New School Establishment

Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has prepared the first supplementary budget amounting to 5.4423 trillion KRW, which is 6.6% (335.2 billion KRW) higher than the original budget.


The detailed supplementary budget resources include 126.6 billion KRW from central government transfers, 1.8 billion KRW from local governments and other transfers, 8.7 billion KRW from self-generated income, and 185 billion KRW from internal transactions.


The Office of Education allocated 67.6 billion KRW for distributing laptops to 4th-grade elementary and 1st-grade high school students for coding education, 23.9 billion KRW for curriculum operation, 5.8 billion KRW for classroom instruction improvement, and 6.8 billion KRW to support public and private early childhood education.


Additionally, 53.6 billion KRW was allocated for new school establishment, 16.3 billion KRW for future school space creation, and 2.5 billion KRW for modular building extensions, with 3 billion KRW planned to support improvements in school facility environments.

The Office of Education also increased school operating expenses by 30.4 billion KRW due to rises in public utility fees and consumer price index, allocated 11.2 billion KRW to support Neulbom School, 6.9 billion KRW for after-school care classrooms and establishment of hub-type care centers, and 1.3 billion KRW to support educational expenses for students from multi-child families.


This supplementary budget will be finalized at the plenary session on the 28th of next month after review by the Incheon City Council’s Education Committee and the Budget and Accounts Special Committee.


An official from the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education stated, "This supplementary budget was prepared focusing on guaranteeing basic academic skills tailored to students, strengthening learning capabilities, and improving school environments for future education."
