Wando-gun Accelerates Operation of Rapid Response Team for Disaster Medical Response

Conducted Capacity Building Training Including Emergency Medical Response Simulation Exercises

On the 22nd, the Wando County Health and Medical Center in Jeollanam-do announced on the 24th that it conducted capacity-building training for the Disaster Medical Rapid Response Team (38 members) in preparation for mass casualty incidents at the medical center's main conference room.

The training, hosted by Wando County, invited five instructors from the Jeollanam-do Western Region Emergency Medical Center (Mokpo Hanguk Hospital) to provide theoretical education on △ disaster emergency medical response systems △ the role of patient triage teams and severity classification △ the roles of treatment and transport teams, along with on-site emergency medical post setup and emergency medical response tabletop exercises.

The Rapid Response Team is a unit that establishes and operates on-site emergency medical posts during disasters to assess the status of casualties and mobilize medical resources such as personnel and supplies to promptly respond to emergency medical needs.

The Wando County Disaster Medical Rapid Response Team is organized into four teams led by the director of the Health and Medical Center. They plan to enhance disaster response capabilities through role recognition via mobile chat rooms, unannounced drills, and joint disaster exercises with related agencies.

Han Gwang-il, director of the Wando County Health and Medical Center, stated, “We will do our best to protect the lives and safety of county residents through continuous staff capacity training and on-site exercises for disaster response emergency medical support.”
