Nowon-gu and Korea Electric Power Corporation Sign MOU for Single-Person Household Welfare Check Service

On the 24th at 1 PM, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, signed an MOU with Korea Electric Power Corporation for the 'Single-Person Household Welfare Check Service.'


This MOU was initiated to support single-person households at high risk of solitary death. By monitoring electricity usage and communication data, the service aims to quickly identify crisis information of socially isolated single-person households, providing continuous safety checks and customized welfare services to prevent solitary deaths.


The agreement period is from June to December 2024, with the initial service targeting approximately 100 households.


The MOU signing ceremony was held with the attendance of Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, and Jeon Si-sik, Head of Seoul Headquarters of Korea Electric Power Corporation, proceeding in the order of agreement opening, project introduction, signing ceremony, and commemorative photo session.


Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, stated, “As the proportion of single-person households is rapidly increasing, various support policies will be necessary,” adding, “Starting with the Single-Person Household Welfare Check Service, we will develop diverse policies to thoroughly cover welfare blind spots for isolated single-person households.”
