The Gwangju Police Agency held a workshop on school violence practitioners on the 24th, with the participation of the Gwangju Autonomous Police Committee, Gwangju Police Agency, and Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the cooperation system among related organizations through collaboration in handling school violence cases and sharing and communicating information. From the Autonomous Police Committee, Yang Gwanghee, Head of the Autonomous Police Policy Division, attended; from the police, Park Jongsam, Head of the Women and Youth Division, along with school police officers from five police stations; and from the Metropolitan Office of Education, Park Seongil, Superintendent in charge of Life Education, and officials responsible for the Education Support Office, totaling 55 participants.
In the morning, participants shared recent improvements in the handling of school violence cases by each institution and held a communication session on information sharing methods and collaboration matters between institutions. In the afternoon, a special lecture was conducted on responding to school violence cases and strengthening cooperation.
Goo Heenam, Superintendent of the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "This year, improvements in case handling systems, such as the introduction of the School Violence Zero Center and the dedicated school violence investigator system, have been implemented. We deeply recognize the importance of cooperation among the police, schools, and the Office of Education for the fair handling of school violence and the practical guidance and protection of youth through the smooth establishment of these changed systems, and we will further strengthen the collaboration system."
Park Jongsam, Head of the Women and Youth Division, said, "Creating a safe environment where youth can grow healthily cannot be achieved by the efforts of a single institution or organization alone. Therefore, I feel this gathering today is even more meaningful and a valuable time for communication and harmony."
The Gwangju Police Agency plans to analyze the opinions and issues collected from each institution during this workshop and reflect them in future youth school violence prevention activities in a more improved direction.
