Gwangju Seo-gu Conducts 'Food Poisoning Outbreak Preparedness On-site Response Drill'

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) conducted a 'Food Poisoning Incident Response Drill' on the 23rd at the district office cafeteria to prepare for the occurrence of mass food poisoning during the summer season.

According to Seo-gu on the 24th, this drill involved officials from Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall, the Health and Environment Research Institute, and five autonomous districts.

The drill aimed to strengthen each institution's on-site response capability to food poisoning by conducting exercises such as ▲ rapid reporting and communication system checks with related agencies in case of food poisoning ▲ epidemiological investigations to identify the cause ▲ tracking and managing the causative food and providing preventive education.

In particular, the institution where food poisoning occurred promptly communicated the fact to related agencies, and each institution conducted the drill as realistically as possible by collecting environmental samples such as preserved food and cooking utensils, as well as human specimens from patients through investigators, along with on-site response.

Lee Sangyong, Director of the Health and Hygiene Division, said, “We will continue to establish and operate a rapid response system to food poisoning incidents to create a safe food environment for Seo-gu residents. As the weather has recently become warmer and the risk of food poisoning in summer is increasing, please report immediately to the health center if food poisoning occurs and follow food poisoning prevention rules such as washing hands, eating cooked food, boiling food, and maintaining proper storage temperatures.”
