YK stated that rather than immediately taking on cases, he is expected to serve as a mentor to the firm's younger lawyers.

Former Justice Kwon is currently under prosecution for allegedly violating the Attorney-at-Law Act by acting as an advisor to Hwacheon Daeyu without registering as a lawyer with the Korean Bar Association from November 2020 to September 2021 after his retirement. It is reported that he received a total advisory fee of 150 million KRW during this period.

He was also suspected of a "judicial deal" after the Supreme Court's full bench in July 2020 played a "casting vote" role in overturning and remanding the election law violation case of then-Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung, resulting in a not guilty verdict.

YK stated, "Former Justice Kwon expressed a lot of grievances during the hiring process," and added, "After thorough review, we concluded that there is no possibility of issues related to the alleged violation of the Attorney-at-Law Act, and thus decided to recruit him."
