'Over 100 Billion Won in Delinquent Tax Collection'... Gyeonggi-do Prepares Special Collection Measures

'Over 100 Billion Won in Delinquent Tax Collection'... Gyeonggi-do Prepares Special Collection Measures Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province, in collaboration with city and county governments, is implementing special collection measures to realize fair taxation by uncovering hidden tax sources and collecting overdue taxes.

Gyeonggi Province will first promote thorough tax revenue management through various measures such as ▲a comprehensive survey of corporate acquisition-exempt residential properties ▲investigation of omitted taxable bases in acquisition tax due to land category changes ▲a full investigation of hidden tax sources in auctioned real estate ▲and examination of the legality of tax exemptions related to corporate mergers and splits.

Additionally, the number of corporate tax audits this year will be expanded from the existing 90 to 110, with additional irregular tax audits conducted.

Furthermore, joint local tax investigations with city and county governments will be initiated early to actively uncover hidden tax sources and concealed assets of delinquent taxpayers, and overdue provincial tax collection will proceed through a full investigation of delinquent taxpayers' promissory note data.

The special collection measures will be in effect for five months from May 14 to September 30, with each city and county establishing its own plans for assessment and collection, and monthly collection reporting meetings will be held.

Gyeonggi Province plans to operate responsible collection teams for each city and county to inspect and encourage underperforming areas.

During the special collection period, Gyeonggi Province will evaluate the performance of provincial tax assessments, awarding additional points to outstanding cities and counties in the 2025 local tax administration evaluation, and providing extra points for achievements in implementing their own special policies.

Moreover, eight exemplary public officials will be selected and commended by the governor, and 20% of the increased tax revenue activity funds will be paid as incentives in advance.

Choi Won-sam, Director of the Taxation Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Last year, we were able to collect an additional 110.3 billion KRW through special collection measures," adding, "This year, we will continue to uncover hidden tax sources to realize tax justice and ensure stable financial management."
