"Do Not Report Double-Parked Vehicles" Notice in Apartment Complex
"Parking Space Is Limited, But This Is Embarrassing"
Story About Recycling in Disabled Parking Zone

A notice from a resident requesting that people contact them first instead of reporting was shared, explaining that they are 'unavoidably' forced to double park in front of a disabled parking space. On the 24th, a post titled "A confident post from someone who habitually parks in or obstructs disabled parking spaces" was uploaded to an online community.

In the accompanying photo, a notice appears to be posted on the elevator of an apartment complex. One resident opened with, "A word to the residents who habitually report vehicles parked in front of disabled parking spaces to the district office." They claimed, "Our complex lacks parking spaces, so many vehicles are double parked in neutral gear," adding, "It's not because we want to, but because we have no other choice."

They continued, "If you report vehicles double parked in front of disabled parking spaces, all non-disabled residents become inconvenienced," emphasizing, "From now on, please show understanding among neighbors and, if vehicle movement is necessary, ask for help from the security office or contact the vehicle owner directly. I hope we can become residents who understand each other."

Regarding this, author A said, "Although parking spaces are indeed very limited, there are always specific people who double park," criticizing, "It is truly an embarrassing sight."

Netizens who read the story scolded, saying, "Disabled parking spaces exist to prevent inconvenience, so do we really have to get out and call to have the car moved?" and "Even when parking spaces are available, there are selfish people who double park or park against the wall just to be in a convenient spot."

In March, a story from a disabled driver sparked public outrage after disabled parking spaces within an apartment complex were used as residents' recycling collection points, causing parking difficulties. B, who pointed out the issue, said, "About twice a week, recycling is done over four parking spots, and the disabled parking space is right in front of the main entrance, where they spread out."

B added, "Because parking spots are scarce, residents double park in front of disabled parking spaces even though they know they will be fined," expressing, "Even if reported, I am afraid the reporter will be identified immediately since there are not many disabled drivers."

According to current law, vehicles without a disabled parking permit parked in disabled-only parking spaces are fined 100,000 KRW. Additionally, if objects are piled up or the passageway is blocked in disabled-only parking spaces, causing obstruction, a fine of 500,000 KRW is imposed.
