Approximately 45,000 Outdoor Advertisements in the Area
Survey of Advertisement Types, Sizes, Locations, and Legality with Photo Documentation
Cataloging Collected Data to Enhance Safety Management... Sharing by Dong Community Centers
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) has launched a comprehensive survey of outdoor advertisements for the first time this year to prepare for seasonal disasters and utilize it for safety inspections. The survey, which began on the 15th of last month, will continue until August.
The survey targets all fixed outdoor advertisements in the area, estimated to include approximately 45,000 signs. It covers all installation locations, including ▲wall-mounted signs ▲projecting signs ▲window advertisements, among others.
The survey will collect detailed information such as ▲type of advertisement ▲size ▲installation location ▲advertisement content ▲legal or illegal status ▲reasons for illegality, along with photographic documentation. Surveyors from a specialized company will conduct the survey using dedicated equipment.
The data collected from the comprehensive survey will be cataloged to strengthen safety management functions. Among these, signs will be selected as hazardous based on factors such as ▲poor fixation ▲risk of falling due to corrosion and aging ▲risk of electric shock.
Advertisements with illegal elements or potential hazards will be subject to correction requests to the business owners, and if necessary, the district office will directly carry out maintenance to eliminate risks. To enable continuous safety inspections, the list of hazardous signs and survey data will be linked with the Saeol Administrative System and shared with each community service center.
Signs that meet the requirements but are classified as unauthorized advertisements will be guided to the installing business owners to apply for permits. This aims to establish a foundation for managing advertisements within the regulatory framework.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, stated, “This comprehensive survey was conducted to achieve more efficient and systematic safety management of outdoor advertisements,” and added, “We will do our best to create a safe walking environment based on the survey results.”
The district has been promoting ▲safety inspections for flood and wind disaster preparedness ▲safety inspections for thawing periods ▲special crackdowns around elementary schools at the start of the school year regarding outdoor advertisements. Through various safety inspections this year, a total of 136 cases have been corrected. Efforts are also being made to inspect and maintain using the public-private joint disaster prevention foundation.
