According to major foreign media on the 23rd (local time), Emilie Enger Mehl, Norway's Minister of Justice, stated in a press release, "The decision to strengthen entry regulations is in line with our approach to support allies and partners in response to Russia's illegal war of aggression against Ukraine."

Under the new regulations, entry will be denied to Russians for tourism as well as non-essential travel. However, the Norwegian Ministry of Justice said exceptions may be allowed in cases such as visiting family members residing in Norway.

According to major foreign media, the new regulations will take effect from the 29th of this month, effectively blocking almost all entries.

Norway, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), first imposed visa restrictions on Russian tourists in 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine. Norway shares a border of about 200 km with Russia.
