On the 21st, Kim Dong-sung's wife, In Min-jeong, posted photos on her social media (SNS) showing Kim working at a construction site. The photos showed Kim wearing a safety helmet and vest, sitting on an excavator while eating a hamburger. In Min-jeong wrote alongside the photos, "Our double life. A hamburger eaten on the street tastes like honey."

Last month on the 6th, In revealed on her SNS that she had started working at a construction site with Kim Dong-sung. At that time, she said, "I was really hesitant and worried about borrowing money from family and acquaintances because of my personality, but I finally asked for help. Thinking about it, you need money in your pocket to be confident, and you need to pay what you owe to be confident. If this path doesn’t work, I can try another, so I made up my mind and put on safety shoes with my husband."

Since then, In has repeatedly shared photos and videos on her social media showing Kim Dong-sung working at the construction site. It is reported that Kim works as a daily laborer at the construction site during weekdays and teaches short track on weekends.

Kim Dong-sung married a non-celebrity woman in 2004 and had one son and one daughter, but they divorced in 2018. Three years later, he remarried In Min-jeong. Since then, he has been involved in controversy for not properly paying child support. In 2020, his name was listed on the website ‘Badfathers,’ which publicly exposes unpaid child support offenders, and last year, he was sued by his ex-wife for violating the Act on the Guarantee of Child Support Enforcement (Child Support Enforcement Act).

Kim Dong-sung’s ex-wife claimed that she did not receive about 80 million won in child support from 2018 until October of last year and stated, "Kim Dong-sung did not even engage in visitation rights, and the children had to learn about their father’s whereabouts through YouTube, showing he did not fulfill his parental responsibilities."

In response, Kim Dong-sung’s side sent a statement to a media outlet saying, "Due to debts exceeding income, he is unable to pay child support," and expressed the intention to pay child support once his financial situation improves. They also said, "Although misunderstandings with the children have accumulated over the years due to various factors including media reports, he hates being remembered as a shameless father to death," and added, "He will work harder to repay debts and send child support. Please watch over us a little longer."
